Beginning a new renovation project can be a daunting task. Luckily that’s what we’re here for! Below are some FAQs that we’ve answered to get you started, but feel free to get in touch with us directly for answers to any further questions you may have.
Q: How much will it cost to remodel my kitchen or bathroom?
A: This is a very popular question, and an exceptionally difficult one to answer. The cost of your new kitchen or bathroom will be determined by the quality of the cabinetry selected, wood species or paint finish, door style, drawer construction, selection of storage accessories, fixtures and of course the installation. All of these decisions will be discussed with your designer to determine which options best meet your quality, style and budget. It is not unusual for a kitchen to run from $30,000 to as much as $150,000 and higher. This may come as a shock to some who are living in a home they paid less than $100,000 for thirty years ago. However, for many, a new kitchen is an once-in-a-lifetime purchase. Eventually, if you sell your home, you can realize much of your cost, and possibly all of it. When you consider this, it makes the expense a little easier to live with.
Q: Is it important to have a budget for a kitchen or bathroom renovation?
A: It is always important to have a budget for any planned renovation; however we understand that it is difficult to come up with a realistic number. If you do not have one, you can always stop in to the showroom where we can sit down with you and discuss a plan and a budget with you. We are also offering financing to assist with your renovation needs.
Q: How do I begin my kitchen or bath project?
A: Your first step is to schedule an appointment so that we may sit down with you, one-on-one to discuss your priorities for your project. This is the time to share all of your ideas, wish lists and wants in your new space. We would then require a site visit to determine the scope of work involved by taking measurements and photographs to help come up with an estimate. With the continual improvement in materials, appliances and design options, the kitchen and bathroom planning process would be overwhelming without the help of a professional.
Q: How long does a kitchen or bathroom renovation typically take from start to finish?
A: This all usually depends on the complexity of the project. Some projects may take longer due to taking down walls, re-locating plumbing etc. From the time the plans have been finalized, and the materials are ordered, you can expect the cabinets alone to take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to arrive.
Q: What countertop is better? Granite or Quartz?
A: Quartz countertops offer a number of advantages. The first, and perhaps the most important, is that quartz is non-porous, meaning that your countertop will not be damaged by spilt liquids. In addition to this, quartz is heat and scratch resistant, it is available in almost any colour and offers a consistent pattern. Granite is a natural stone composed of quartz, feldspar and mica. They are extremely heat and scratch resistant. Unlike quartz, each slab of granite is incredibly unique. Granite generally requires a bit more work than quartz as it should be sealed every 12 months due to its porous nature.
Q: What is the kitchen WORK TRIANGLE and why is this important?
A: The “work triangle” is the kitchen area from the refrigerator to the main cooking area to the main sink. Connect the three and it will create a triangle, unless you have a “one-wall” kitchen. The work triangle is important because at or immediately adjacent to the triangle points, all the key kitchen activities: food preparation, cooking, and clean-up. The work triangle will help ensure that your kitchen will be functional. It keeps all cooking activities centered in one area, with all necessities close at hand.

Q: I have a modest budget for my project, are you able to work with me?
A: Of course! No matter how big or small the project may be, or what the budget is, we can work together in establishing a plan and proposal that will fit into your budget. Renovations can sometimes seem overwhelming, however, we can assist you in suggesting fittings and appropriate finishes that will work with in your budget.
Q: Is the final price reflected in the contract? Are there going to be extra costs?
A: The final price reflects all the work as well as all material described in the final contract. However, with any renovation, the process may uncover unforeseen problems that may need to be addressed during that time. Some examples can include the following; asbestos, mould, electrical or plumbing issues, structural elements that are no longer to code. That is why it is important to have a contingency budget for every project in order to cover any unforeseen costs, if any. Our team will ensure that you are well aware of any issues such as the ones mentioned above that may arise throughout the project.
